Computer Architecture (计算机体系结构--全英课程)
This course discusses the organizations, working mechanisms, designs, performance analyses and architectural optimizations of computing systems. Designed for first-year undergraduates at the School of Software, SCNU, this course aims to:
- Equip students with foundational knowledge of computer architecture (i.e., instruction set architecture, information representation, CPU design and microarchitecture, memory hierarchy, input/output systems, and performance analysis);
- Provide an up-to-date treatment of recent advancements in computer architecture that are critical to students' success in their future academic and career lives;
- Help students without prior technical experience get acquainted with hardware-related topics that are essential to software system design and performance enhancements;
- Offer an open platform with self-guided tutorials and labs enabling students to acquire relevant skills according to their individual needs and interests; and
- Deliver not-only high-quality technical contents in English but also a guided learning process preparing students for future interactions with international students and scholars in English.

本门课程面向大学一年级学生开设,旨在介绍计算系统的组成、工作原理、设计方法、性能分析及结构优化。课程的主要目标有:

基础英语(2)(南海校区)
Basic English is a core compulsory course for non-English major undergraduates of SCNU as an important part of their general education. The materials of the course units are close to the college students' study and life, covering a wide range of natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, concerning science, technology, economy,history, literature, philosophy, life, social problems and so on. The major task of this course is to cultivate students’ comprehensive ability of reading, writing ,listening and speaking general English in life and academic study, as well as their ability of cross-cultural communication between Chinese and foreign cultures, so as to meet the students’ basic needs of college study, international communication, and future work and employment, and enhance their autonomous learning ability and cultural literacy.
Business Communication(商务沟通全英课程)
This course covers a great variety of subjects selected from different sources in different occasions of business communication, intercultural business communication and business etiquette, is designed to help students getting familiar with the fundamental ideas on communication, culture, business, business communication, intercultural business communication, the role of the languages plays, international negotiation and business etiquette. The idea is to provide the students all sorts of related information that will enable them to move about in the business arena with confidence; to help them to make effective and successful communication cross cultures in the business world; to face daunting situations armed with the knowledge that, whatever the outcome, they can manage the complicated communication and behaved properly through it all. It also will help the students to learn to develop their analysis and reference skills so that they may be able to think independently, work on their own and solved the problems they might encounter in the future business career.

3. Lastly, I’ll invite you to shadow me. Speak the words with me and copy the natural rhythm in my voice.
跨文化交际Intercultural Communication
With economic globalization, the economic border between countries blurs. This has triggered frequent business mobility across the world and ever-increasing interactions among peoples of different cultures. This has also given rise to the need of learning how to communicate effectively in a cross-cultural setting. This course aims to familiarize students with the essential terms and basic theories in intercultural communication, and provides strategies to analyze the value system of different cultures, which is key to understanding the social and economical conditions in a given culture. Case study will be employed to illustrate failures in intercultural communication. It is hoped that by taking this course, students will raise their awareness of cultural differences, adopt flexibility in encountering different culture, and improve their skills in communicating in English with people from various cultures.
The Origins and Development of European Civilization 欧洲文化的起源与发展
The purpose of this course is to provide students with a very broad overview of Western Civilization, mainly from its ancient beginnings up to the early modern era. Topics include ancient Greece, ancient Roman, Christianity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and Protestant Reformation, the Enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution and so on. While aiming broadly to outline the western history, its key events and figures, this course will also try to provide a straight forward and relatively traditional account of the rise of western civilization, and help students to think critically on western political, social and cultural developments.
Business Communication (商务沟通全英课程)
