a.Give the definition of "Group" in your own words.

A group is a set of people who have the same interests or aims, and who organize themselves to work or act together.

 b.Discribe the detailed characterictics of the groups.

Ø  Interdependence: The mutual dependence of group members on one another

Ø  Common goal: The driving force that brings people together to form is a common goal.

Ø  Group personality: When people get together in a group, , they form a collective identity that becomes the group personality.

Ø  Commitment: the desire of group members to work together to complete their task to the satisfaction of the entire group

Ø  Cohesiveness: This is the attraction which group members feel for each other, and this makes them united.

Ø  Group conflict: whenever people come together in any communicative context there is bound to be conflict of some sort.

Ø  Social facilitation: people may release energy that they would not be release when they are not in a group.

Ø  Gender differences: Men and women often behave differently in a group.

Ø  Group size: Different group size will cause different effect.

Ø  Norms: Norms are the expected and shared ways in which group members behave.

 C.How to make the group members get into a positive participation during the group communication?

1. Define the content and purpose of the group discussion.

2. Have a clear work division within the group and make sure everyone is involved in the group communication.
